Text 1 Early one morning, Umar was walking to the bus stop to catch a bus to school. A loud, screeching noise suddenly pierced the air. Umar realized that there had been an accident. A small boy was lying unconscious on the road, and the car that had hit him had already run away. Umar was confused and frightened. “is the boy dead?” Umar asked himself. However, the boy was still breathing. Umar could see that the boy had bruises all over his face and arms. Umar did not know what to do. Few cars passed along this road at this time of the day. Before he went away, he gave the hen a ring. “This is to show that you have promised to marry me,”said the hawk. So it happened that the hen had already promised to marry a rooster. So, when the rooster saw the ring, he became very angry. “Throw that ring away at once! Didn,t you tell the hawk that you,d already promised to marry me?” shouted the rooster .The hen was so frightened at the rooster anger that she threw away  the ring immediately. Soal matematika di atas merupakan materi dari rumus dari teorema phytagoras.

Pembahasan

Teorema phytagoras adalah teori untuk menentukan besar garis diagonal/miring terhadap garis vertikal/tegak dan garis horizontal/datar.

Rumus phytagoras secara umum digambarkan sebagai segitiga siku-siku dengan sebuah sudut istimewa yaitu sudut siku-siku sebesar 90 derajat atau sudut ∠ = 90° atau dinotasikan dengan ⊥ = 90°.

Misalnya, terdapat segitiga siku-siku ABC atau ΔABC dimana terdapat garis miring AB dengan panjang c, garis tegak AC dengan panjang b, dan garis datar BC dengan panjang a, sehingga hubungan antara ketiga garis tersebut dirumuskan dalam persamaan phytagoras berikut.

Misalnya, terdapat segitiga ABC atau ∆ABC dengan ketiga sisinya yaitu sisi a yang terletak berhadapan dengan sudut A, sisi b yang terletak berhadapan dengan sudut B, dan sisi c yang terletak berhadapan dengan sudut C.

Segitiga ABC dapat berupa segitiga lancip, segitiga tumpul, atau segitiga siku-siku, yang dapat ditentukan dengan ketentuan persamaan rumus phytagoras yaitu sebagai berikut.

Jika a² + b² < c², maka ∆ABC adalah segitiga lancip di sudut C yaitu antara 0 sampai 90 derajat atau 0° < ∠C < 90°. Jika a² + b² > c², maka ∆ABC adalah segitiga tumpul di sudut C yaitu antara 90 sampai 180 derajat atau 90° < ∠C < 180°. Jika a² + b² = c², maka ∆ABC adalah segitiga siku-siku di sudut C yaitu sebesar 90 derajat atau ∠C = 90°.

Dengan menggunakan rumus phytagoras, segitiga istimewa berikut memiliki besar sudut-sudutnya yang tetap atau konstan terhadap perbandingan panjang sisi-sisinya yang saling berhadapan dengan sudutnya masing-masing.

Jika besar sudut segitiga berturut-turut adalah 30°, 60°, dan 90°, maka perbandingan panjang sisi segitiga berturut-turut adalah 1 : √3 : 2Jika besar sudut segitiga berturut-turut adalah 45°, 45°, dan 90°, maka perbandingan panjang sisi segitiga berturut-turut adalah 1 : 1 : √2.Jika besar sudut segitiga berturut-turut adalah 37°, 53°, dan 90°, maka perbandingan panjang sisi segitiga berturut-turut adalah 3 : 4 : 5.

Penyelesaian soal untuk materi teorema phytagoras untuk sudut istimewa adalah sebagai berikut.

Saudaraku, Rizal, dan aku membuat bangku taman setelah ayahku menebang pohon mangga tua di belakang rumah kami tiga minggu lalu. Kami melihat sepotong kayu besar. Lalu kami punya ide. Kami memberi tahu Ayah bahwa kami ingin membuat bangku taman. Dia setuju dan dia akan membantu kami. Kemudian, dia menggergaji batang menjadi tiga bagian. Diameter 25 cm dan tinggi 25 cm. Setelah itu, Rizal dan aku menggosoknya dengan amplas agar halus. Setelah itu, kami   mengeringkannya di bawah sinar matahari selama satu minggu. Ketika mereka kering, kami mengecat mereka, satu hijau, satu merah dan satu biru. Akhirnya, kami mengeringkannya di bawah sinar matahari lagi selama tiga hari.

Ya pak. Kami memenangkan kompetisi kelas karena kami bekerja keras. Kepala sekolah mengumumkan kompetisi kelas pada hari Senin dalam upacara bendera. Ketika kami kembali ke ruang kelas, kami menyadari bahwa banyak meja dan kursi sudah tua dan kotor. Beberapa memiliki kaki yang longgar. Di sore hari, kami berbicara dan setuju untuk datang pada hari Sabtu untuk memperbaikinya. Pada hari Sabtu kami masing-masing membawa sesuatu dari rumah seperti sabun, kain, sapu, kain pel, paku, palu, kain lap, dan sebagainya. Kemudian, beberapa dari kami mencuci meja dan kursi. Beberapa memperlengkapi mereka. Beberapa memperbaiki kaki. Sekarang, kami memiliki meja dan kursi baru.
